I’m sure you’ve noticed peplums everywhere in the shops at the moment. Other than I love saying the word peplum (sounds like a funny body part to me – ie – she really damaged her peplum) it’s also a very flattering shape on us ladies.
I’ve been drooling over this Cue number for ages – waiting for it to go on sale. This aubergine colour loves hanging out up with all your black, grey, camel and even navy bottoms. The ¾ sleeves are also so right. Why not throw a chunky gold necklace on top?
Well, well ,well. You had me at stripes, but add this soft cotton peplum shape and I’m sold. This cute one at Forever new is a cheaper way to get in on the trend. The only thing I will say about people buying them is it is best to try them on beforehand as some will sit too high or too low on your torso. Aim for your natural waist. As for belts – while the peplum already shows off your waist (how thoughtful) I do like to add a belt – a cherry red would be fab on this one.
Skirts are also hoping on the peplum express (as are and dresses and jackets) and this ASOS one is so pretty with its black lace. It’s a simple pencil skirt with a fun twist. You don’t need me to tell you how to wear it. I will note that this shape is not so kind on those who carry their weight on the bottom half as the peplum detail adds bulk where you don’t want it.
