Warning: Dangerous curves ahead

I’m a huge Mad Men fan. While the story, the acting and the actors are all wonderful, to me the fashion is the big star. In particular, the clothes worn by va va voom bombshell Joan Harris (played by Christina Hendricks). Joan is unashamedly curvy and only wears figure hugging dresses, pencil skirts and blouses to showcase that magnificent figure. She is a great role model for those of use with hips and a generous bust and a perfect example that curves are indeed very sexy.   Always better to show it off than cover it up. While some credit must go the show’s producers for in fact showing there were curvy women in the 1950/1960s, it is really the brilliance of the show’s costume designer Janie Bryant that ensures Joan shines.   The pieces are a good guide to dressing curves  (showing off you best assets, skimming over those you’d rather cover and always highlighting the waist), embracing what you have and when you find the right shapes that work for you, don’t be afraid to put them on repeat (in many different colours) and remember to own it!
